1. Sicherheitshinweise

Das Gerät entspricht den Sicherheitsbestimmungen

für elektrische Mess-, Steuer-, Regel- und Laborge-

räte nach DIN EN 61010 Teil 1 und ist nach Schutz-

klasse 3 aufgebaut. Es ist für den Betrieb in trocke-

nen Räumen vorgesehen, die für elektrische Be-

triebsmittel geeignet sind.

 Wenn ein gefahrloser Betrieb nicht mehr möglich

ist, ist das Gerät unverzüglich außer Betrieb zu set-

zen.

 Gerät keiner hohen Luftfeuchtigkeit, extremen

Temperaturen oder starken Erschütterungen

aussetzen.

 Vor Inbetriebnahme des Gerätes ist die Bedie-

nungsanleitung zu lesen, um Schäden am Ge-

rät und oder dem Bediener zu vermeiden.

Die Probenleiterplatte kann während des Betriebs

sehr heiß werden (170°C). Verbrennungsgefahr!

 Vor dem Ausbau der Leiterplatte eine ange-

messene Abkühlzeit abwarten.

2. Beschreibung

Das Hall-Effekt-Basisgerät dient zur Kontaktie-

rung, Spannungsversorgung und Halterung der

Ge-Kristalle auf Leiterplatte (1008522, 1009810

und 1009760) in Experimenten zum Hall-Effekt in

Abhängigkeit von der Temperatur, dem Magnetfeld

oder dem Probenstrom und zur elektrischen Leitfä-

higkeit.

Integriert im Basisgerät sind eine einstellbare Kon-

stantstromquelle für den Probenstrom, ein Mess-

verstärker mit Offsetkompensation für die Hall-

Spannung und eine regelbare Probenheizung. Eine

automatische Abschaltung der Heizung bei 170° C

dient dem Schutz der empfindlichen Ge-Kristalle.

Hall-Spannung, Probenstrom, Probenspannung

und Temperatur können auf der umschaltbaren An-

zeige abgelesen werden. Zusätzlich können Hall-

Spannung und Probenspannung auf der Frontseite

direkt abgegriffen werden und seitlich drei Span-

nungsäquivalentwerte für Hall-Spannung oder Pro-

benspannung, Probenstrom und Probentempera-

tur. Auf der rechten Gehäuseseite befinden sich

drei Mini-Din-Buchsen zur computerunterstützten

Messwertaufnahme der bereits erwähnten Mess-

größen.

Das Gerät wird auf dem U-Kern des zerlegbaren

Transformators aufgebaut. Das Magnetfeld kann

mit einem Magnetfeldsensor in unmittelbarer Nähe

des Kristalls gemessen werden.

6.1 Experimentieraufbau für homogenes Mag-

netfeld und Einbau der Leiterplatten

Zum Aufbau eines homogenen Magnetfelds sind

 U-Kern auf eine stabile, ebene Unterlage stel-

len.

 Spulen auf so auf den U-Kern setzen, dass die

Anschlüsse nach vorne weisen.

 U-Halter bis zum Anschlag in die Bohrung des

U-Kerns einsetzen und mit der Rändel-

schraube befestigen.

 Polschuhe auf die Schenkel setzen und mittels

der Spannbügel fixieren (siehe Fig. 4).

 Leiterplatte in die Aufnahme des Basisgeräts

schieben bis die Kontaktstifte in der Vielfach-

buchse stecken. Dabei auf die richtige Orien-

tierung der Leiterkarte achten (siehe Fig. 5).

 Basisgerät mit Leiterplatte auf den U-Halter

aufstecken. Dabei auf parallelen Sitz der Lei-

terplatte zum U-Kern achten, ggf. U-Halter et-

was drehen (siehe Fig. 6).

 Magnetfeldsensor in die entsprechende Auf-

nahme des Basisgeräts einführen.

 Spannbügel lösen und Polschuhe bis an die

Abstandshalter der Leiterplatten heranführen

(darauf achten, dass die Leiterplatte nicht ge-

bogen wird) (siehe Fig. 7/8).

7. Experimente

7.1 Messung der Hall-Spannung in Abhän-

gigkeit von der magnetischen Fluss-

dichte B, der Temperatur T oder dem Pro-

benstrom I bei n- oder p-dotiertem Ger-

manium

Zur Durchführung der Experimente sind folgende

Geräte zusätzlich erforderlich:

 Experimentieraufbau gemäß Fig. 9 vervoll-

ständigen.

 Wechselspannungsausgang des Transfor-

mators an die Eingangsbuchsen zur Span-

nungsversorgung anschließen und Aus-

gangsspannung auf 12 V einstellen.

 Spulen mit dem DC-Netzgerät beschalten.

 Magnetfeldsensor an den Datenlogger an-

schließen.

 Probenstrom IP wählen (max. Probenstrom

siehe Bedienungsanleitung zum Ge-Kristall),

Hallspannung am Basisgerät wählen und mit

Kompensationssteller Nullabgleich der Hall-

Spannung vornehmen.

7.1.1 Hall-Spannung in Abhängigkeit vom Proben-

strom IP

 DC-Netzgerät einschalten und als Konstant-

stromquelle betreiben

 Magnetische Flussdichte B bzw. Spulen-

strom wählen, Hall-Spannung UH in Abhän-

gigkeit vom Probenstrom IP aufnehmen.

7.1.2 Hall-Spannung in Abhängigkeit von der mag-

7.2 Messung der Leitfähigkeit in Abhängig-

keit von der Temperatur T

Zur Durchführung der Experimente sind fol-

gende Geräte zusätzlich erforderlich:

UP in Abhängigkeit von der Temperatur auf-

nehmen.

8. Pflege und Wartung

 Vor der Reinigung Gerät vom Stromversor-

gung trennen und Leiterplatte entfernen.

 Zum Reinigen ein weiches, feuchtes Tuch

benutzen.

 Leiterplatte nach Benutzung und Abkühlung

im Originalkarton aufbewahren.

9. Entsorgung

 Die Verpackung ist bei den örtlichen Recyc-

lingstellen zu entsorgen.

 Sofern das Gerät

selbst verschrottet

werden soll, so ge-

hört dieses nicht in

den normalen Haus-

müll. Es sind die loka-

len Vorschriften zur

Entsorgung von

halten.

1. Safety instructions

The equipment conforms to safety regulations for

electrical measuring instruments and control and la-

boratory equipment as per DIN EN 61010, part 1

and is designed to conform to protection class 3. It

is intended for use in dry rooms which are suitable

for the use of electrical equipment.

 If the equipment can no longer be operated

without hazards arising, it should immediately

be withdrawn from use.

 Do not expose the equipment to high humidity,

extreme temperatures or severe shocks.

 Before using the equipment, read the instruc-

tion manual in order to avoid damage to the

equipment or injury to users.

The board with the sample can become very hot

when in operation (170°C) so that there is a risk of

burns.

 Before removing the circuit board, allow it suf-

ficient time to cool.

2. Description

The Hall effect basic apparatus provides contacts

and power supply for the circuit boards with a ger-

manium crystal (1008522, 1009810 and

1009760), also holding them in place in experi-

ments measuring the Hall effect and how it de-

pends on temperature, magnetic field or sample

current, as well as experiments on electrical con-

ductivity.

The apparatus contains an adjustable constant

current source for the sample current, a measure-

ment amplifier with offset compensation for the

Hall voltage and adjustable heating for samples.

The heating automatically cuts out at 170°C to pro-

tect fragile germanium crystals. Hall voltage, sam-

ple current, sample voltage and temperature can

all be read off from the display, which can be

switched between these various modes. In addi-

tion, Hall voltage and sample voltage can be

tapped directly via contacts on the front, and three

voltage equivalents for Hall voltage or sample volt-

age, sample current and sample temperature on

the side. On the right-hand side of the case there

are three mini-DIN sockets for computer-based

measurement of the quantities mentioned above.

The equipment is set up on the U-shaped core of

the multi-piece transformer kit. The magnetic field

can be measured using a magnetic field sensor

adjacent to the crystal.

6. Operation

6.1 Experiment set-up for uniform magnetic

field and attachment of circuit boards

The following equipment is necessary to set up a

uniform magnetic field:

 Place the U-shaped core on a stable, level

surface.

 Place coils over the core in such a way that

their connectors are facing the front.

 Insert the U-shaped holder all the way into

the hole in the U-shaped core and secure it in

place with the knurled screw.

 Place the pole pieces on the legs of the core

and secure them in place with clamps (see

Fig. 4).

 Insert the circuit board into the attachment on

the console until the contact pins slot into the

multi-pin socket. Make sure the circuit board

is correctly aligned (see Fig. 5).

 Insert the console with the circuit board at-

tached onto the U-shaped holder. Make sure

the board is held parallel with the U-shaped

core. You may need to turn the U-shaped

holder slightly (see Fig. 6).

 Insert the magnetic field sensor into the cor-

responding attachment on the console.

 Undo the clamps and move the pole pieces

as far as the spacers on the circuit board

(make sure the board does not get warped)

(see Fig. 7/8).

7. Experiments

7.1 Measurement of Hall voltage as a func-

tion of magnetic flux density B, tempera-

ture T or sample current I for n- or p-

doped germanium

 Complete the experiment set-up as shown in

Fig. 9.

 Connect the AC output of the transformer to

the input sockets for the power supply and set

an output voltage of 12 V.

 Connect the coils to the DC power supply.

 Connect the magnetic field sensor to the data

logger.

 Select sample current IP (for max. sample

current see instruction manual for germanium

crystal), select the Hall voltage on the con-

sole and adjust the zero point for the Hall volt-

age with the help of the compensation trim-

mer.

7.1.1 Hall voltage as a function of sample current IP

 Turn on the DC power supply and set it up as

a constant current source

 Select magnetic flux density B or coil current

and record the Hall voltage UH as a function

of the sample current IP.

7.1.2 Hall voltage as a function of magnetic flux

density B

 Select a constant sample current, e.g. 20 mA.

 Vary the magnetic flux density B by changing

the current through the coils and record the

corresponding Hall voltage UH.

 For your measurement plots, see the manual

for the relevant circuit boards.

7.1.3 Hall voltage as a function of temperature T

 Select magnetic flux density B or coil current.

 Switch on the heating controller and record

the Hall voltage UH as a function of tempera-

ture.

 It is recommended that the sample be heated

to 170°C and to write down the Hall voltage

as it cools down.

 Turn on the heating controller and record the

Hall voltage UH as a function of temperature.

 For your measurement plots, see the manual

for the relevant circuit boards.

7.2 Measurement of conductivity as a func-

tion of temperature T

The following equipment is needed for the ex-

periments:

 Select a small sample current IP. Since the

current will cause the sample to heat up, you

should not exceed a current of 5mA.

 Switch the display to sample voltage.

 Turn on the heating controller and record the

sample voltage UP as a function of tempera-

ture.

for the relevant circuit boards.

8. Care and maintenance

 Before cleaning the equipment, disconnect it

from its power supply and remove the circuit

board.

 Use a soft, damp cloth to clean it.

 Keep the circuit board in the original box after

it has been used and has cooled down.

9. Disposal

 The packaging should be disposed of at local

recycling points.

 Should you need to
