CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
Introduction to your Router
Congratulations on your purchase of the BEC 4700FWB (RidgeWave® 5GHz Base Station).
This unit is an Outdoor Wireless Broadband Router, offers a cost-effective alternative by utilizing the
license-free 5GHz and bridging with existing fiber-base infrastructure providing secure, reliable
performance Wi-Fi connectivity and coverage to outside locations and harsh environment where
cannot get service at required speed. The rugged, compact IP68 rated enclosure enables it to stand
up to dirt, harmful ingress of water, humidity and extreme temperatures for years of dependable
operation.
Lightweight, Compact and unobtrusive Design
With multiple mounting options and a lightwegithed, it is easily to install the BEC 4700 by single person.
The BEC 4700 also has a built-in passive Gigabit Power of Ethernet (GPoE) so both data and power
can be sent from the unit.
Designed for Challenging / Rugged Deployments
The BEC 4700 is designed for the toughest industrial environments. With IP67 hardened enclosure
with industrial-grade components, the BEC 4700 can be installed in manufacturing plants, industrial
automation, stadiums, convention halls, stadium facilities, school campuses, etc.
New Experience with Wi-Fi Speed and Coverage
With the next wireless generation, 802.11ac, integrated in the BEC 4700, the router delivers fast Wi-Fi
speeds of up to 2000Mbps. The BEC 4700 supports a link rate up to 300Mbps in 2.4GHz frequency
range & 1700Mbps in 5GHz range and is also backward compatible with existing 802.11 a / b / g / n
wireless equipment in the network. The Wireless Protected Access (WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK) and
Wireless Encryption Protocol (WEP) features enhance the level of transmission security and access
control over Wireless LAN. BEC 4700 also supports the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) standard for
easy and secure establishment of a wireless home network. If the user’s network requires wider
coverage, the built-in Wireless Distribution System (WDS) repeater function expands the wireless
network without needing any external wires or cables.
IPv6 Supported
Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) is a version of the Internet Protocol that is designed to succeed IPv4.
IPv6 has a vastly larger address space than IPv4. The router is already supporting IPv6, you can use
it in IPv6 environment no need to change device. The dual-stack protocol implementation in an
operating system is a fundamental IPv4-to-IPv6 transition technology. It implements IPv4 and IPv6
protocol stacks either independently or in a hybrid form. The hybrid form is commonly implemented in
modern operating systems supporting IPv6.
