Safety

• Theproduct should not be taken apart or modiﬁed. Certain unshielded

components inside thecasing carry dangerous voltages. Contact with these can

lead to ﬁre or electricshock.

• Theproduct is intended for indoor useonly.

• Never subject theproduct to high temperature, dust, heavy vibration, impacts,

humidity or moisture.

• TheCD mechanism is sensitive to shocks. Makesure that CD playback has been

stopped before moving theproduct.

• Do not place theproduct where there is arisk of it falling into water or other liquid.

Donot place any objects containing liquid on theproduct,e.g. ﬂower vases or

drinks.

• Do not cover theproduct. Adequate ventilation with adistance of at least 10cm

between ventilation holes and thesurrounding area is necessary to prevent

theappliance from becoming toowarm.

• Disconnect theproduct from thepower supply by unplugging it from thewall

socket. Makesure that thewall socket and plug are easily accessible.

• Theon/off button on thefront of theradio does not disconnect theproduct from

theelectricitymains.

• Protect your hearing. Listening on high volume for prolonged periods can lead to

permanent hearingloss.

• Repairs and service should only be performed by qualiﬁed tradesmen, and only

with original spareparts.

Installation

Aerial

Extend theaerial (15) fully for thebest signal reception.

Theoptimum radio signal reception is usually achieved when theaerial is vertical.

Mains operation

Connect themains lead to theAC IN socket (17) and to a230V wall socket.

Theproduct should be unplugged during heavy thunder storms to protect it from

lightning strikes.

Battery operation

1. Remove thebattery cover (18) by ﬁrst

sliding it in thedirection of thearrows.

2. Insert 6×C/LR14 batteries. Observe

themarkings in thebattery compartment

to ensure correct polarity.

3. Reﬁt thebatterycover.

Note: Remove thebatteries from theproduct

if it is not to be used for alongtime.

Oldbatteries can begin to leak and damage

theproduct.

External audio source input socket

If you wish to connect anexternal audio source to theradio such as amobile phone or

MP3 player, you can do this by plugging it into theAUX-IN socket (16) on theback of

theCD player.

Operating instructions

Switching on/off

Switch theradio on by pressing [ ]. “Welcome to Digital Radio” will appear on

thedisplay.

Audio setting

Adjust thevolume by turning thevolume dial (14).

Setting thetime anddate

TheCD player automatically sets thetime and date when receiving DAB channels or

FM channels with RDS information (Radio Data System).

CD player

CD playback

1. Select audio source: Settheselector (13) to CDmode. “CD” will show on

thedisplay.

2. Open theCD drawer (7).

3. Insert aCD (label side up) and close theCD drawer. Whenthedisc has been read

thenumber of tracks and total playing time will be shown on thedisplay.

4. Press [►||/SCAN] to start playback. Theﬁrst track on theCD will begin playing.

5. Press [|◄◄/TUNE-] or [►►|/TUNE+] repeatedly to changetrack.

6. Hold in [|◄◄/TUNE-] or [►►|/TUNE+] while atrack is playing to search

backwards or forwards in thetrack.

7. Press [►||] to pause playback. “Pause” will show on thedisplay. Pressthebutton

again to resume playback.

8. Press [■/ENTER] to stop playback.

TheCD player will even stop playingwhen:

• TheCD drawer is opened.

• Theaudio source is changed.

• Theentire CD has been played and no other playback option has been selected.

Playback options

Press [PLAY MODE/INFO/MENU] therequired number of times to select repeated or

random playback.

Choose from thefollowing playback options:

• REP1: Repeat asingletrack.

• REP ALL: Repeat all thetracks on thedisc.

• RAND: Playthetracks in randomorder.

Playbacklist

Up to 20 CD tracks can be saved on aplayback list and you can choose in which

order they are to be played. Note: Iflonger than 10 seconds elapses between button-

presses theCD player automatically exits programmingmode.

1. Make sure that playback of theCD has been stopped by pressing [■/ENTER].

2. Press [PRE/PROG] to enter programmingmode. “PROG” will ﬂash on thedisplay

and (“PROG01”) theﬁrst slot of theplayback list will be displayed.

3. Select thetrack that you wish to save in theslot by pressing [|◄◄/TUNE-] or

[►►|/TUNE+] therequired number oftimes. Conﬁrm your selection by pressing

[PRE/PROG]. Thenext slot in theplayback list will be displayed.

4. Repeat step 3 above and save all thetracks in theorder you’d like them to

beplayed.

5. Finalise theprogramming and start playback by pressing [►||/SCAN].

6. To interrupt playback of theplayback list, press [■/ENTER] twice until “PROG”

disappears from thedisplay.

Note: Theplayback list is erased from thememory when you select another audio

source or switch theCD playeroff.

DABradio

Theradio receiver supports both analogue (FM) and digital (DAB/DAB+) radio

transmissions.

1. Selecting anaudio source: Settheselector switch (13) to either theDAB position

or theFM position.

2. Press [DAB/FM] and select DAB reception. “DAB” will show on thedisplay.

Searching for radio stations

Press [►||/SCAN] to begin anautomatic scan for DAB channels. Whilst theradio is

scanning, “Scanning…” will appear on thedisplay along with aprogress bar indicator

and anumber showing how many channels have beenfound.

• Note: Ifno DAB channels are found “No Signal” will appear on thedisplay.

• Make sure that DAB broadcasts are available in your geographicalarea.

• If reception is poor, try to change theposition of theaerial or move theradio to

improve reception.

• Perform anew scan by pressing [►||/SCAN].

Choosing radio channels

Press [|◄◄/TUNE-] or [►►|/TUNE+] repeatedly to select achannel from

thechannellist.

Handytip: Upto 10 DAB channels can be saved as preset channels on alist so that

you can choose your favourite stations more quickly. Referto thePreset channels

sectionbelow.

Note: IftheCD player is moved to anew location or if radio stations change

frequencies, some preset channels might become unavailable. IftheCD player does

not ﬁnd theselected channel, “Not available” will appear on thedisplay. Referto

theDAB menu section to clear thechannel list of unavailable channels and perform

anew channel search.

DABmenu

1. In DAB mode, press and hold in [PLAY MODE/INFO/MENU] to go to theDABmenu.

2. Press [|◄◄/TUNE-] or [►►|/TUNE+] repeatedly to navigate themenu.

3. Press [■/ENTER] to select amenu/function.

Thefollowing menus will appear:

1. Full Scan: Automatic scan for DAB radio channels.

- Press [■/ENTER] to conﬁrm. TheCD player automatically starts scanning for

DAB radio channels.

2. Manualtune: Manual scan for DAB radio channels.

- Press [|◄◄/TUNE-] or [►►|/TUNE+] repeatedly to manually select achannel.

Press [■/ENTER] to conﬁrm. Thechannel number and frequency will be

displayed.

3. Prune: Clearthechannel list of unavailable radio channels.

- Press [|◄◄/TUNE-] or [►►|/TUNE+] to select Yes or No. Press [■/ENTER]

to conﬁrm. Yes clears thechannel list and No aborts theclearance.

4. Language: Tochange language settings.

- Press [|◄◄/TUNE-] or [►►|/TUNE+] repeatedly to change language

(thecurrent language is indicated by anasterisk *. Press [■/ENTER] to conﬁrm.

5. Factory Reset: Resetto factory default settings.

- Select No (no reset) or Yes (reset). Press [■/ENTER ] to conﬁrm. “System reset

OK?” will appear on thedisplay.

6. SW version: Showsthecurrent software version.

- Press [■/ENTER] to display thesoftware version.

Display options (DAB mode)

Press [PLAY MODE/INFO/MENU] repeatedly to display information about thecurrent

radio station.

Thefollowing information can be displayed:

• Programme Type: current programme type (genre)

• Ensemble Name: group name of thechannels transmitted on thesame frequency.

• Signal Strength: thesignal strength of theradio channel

• Date: thecurrentdate

• Time: thecurrenttime

• Channel Number/Frequency: thenumber and frequency of theradio channel

• Audio Bit Rate/Comp: theaudio bit rate and type of data compression

• Radio Text: text messages from theradio channel

FMradio

1. Selecting anaudio source: Settheselector switch (13) to either theDAB position

or theFM position.

2. Press [DAB/FM] and select FM reception. “FM” appears on thedisplay.

Searching for radio stations

• Manual tuning: Press [|◄◄/TUNE-] or [►►|/TUNE+] repeatedly to navigate

through thefrequencyband.

• Automatic search: Holdin [|◄◄/TUNE-], [►►|/TUNE+] or [►||/SCAN] to

automatically search for thenext detectable radio channel. Thesearch stops when

achannel has beenfound.

If theselected channel transmits RDS information (Radio Data System), thename of

channel will be shown on thedisplay.

Handytip: Upto 10 FM channels can be saved as preset channels on alist so that

you can choose your favourite stations more quickly. Referto thePreset channels

sectionbelow.

FMmenu

1. In FM mode, press and hold in [PLAY MODE/INFO/MENU] to go to theFMmenu.

2. Press [|◄◄/TUNE-] or [►►|/TUNE+] repeatedly to navigate themenu.

3. Press [■/ENTER] to select amenu/function.

Thesettings marked with anasterisk *are thecurrent settings.

Thefollowing menus will appear:

1. Scan Setting: Choose thesensitivity for scanning for FM channels.

- Press [|◄◄/TUNE-] or [►►|/TUNE+] to select either Strong stations only

(low sensitivity) or All stations (high sensitivity). Press [■/ENTER] to conﬁrm.

2. Audio Setting: Select whether you wish to receive stereo audio or if you want to

receive transmissions inmono. Inpoor reception conditions mono can improve

thesound quality.

- Press [|◄◄/TUNE-] or [►►|/TUNE+] to select Stereo allowed or

Forcedmono. Press [■/ENTER] to conﬁrm.

3. Language: Tochange language settings.

- Press [|◄◄/TUNE-] or [►►|/TUNE+] repeatedly to change language.

Press[■/ENTER] to conﬁrm.

4. Factory Reset: Resetto factory default settings.

- Select No (no reset) or Yes (reset). Press [■/ENTER ] to conﬁrm. “System reset

OK?” will appear on thedisplay.

5. SW version: Showsthecurrent software version.

- Press [■/ENTER] to display thesoftware version number.

Display options (FM mode)

Press [PLAY MODE/INFO/MENU] repeatedly to display information about thecurrent

radio station.

Thefollowing information can be displayed:

• Programme Type: current programme type (genre)

• Signal Strength: thesignal strength of theradio channel

• Date: thecurrentdate

• Time: thecurrenttime

• Frequency: thefrequency of theradio channel

• Audio Type: shows whether thetransmission is received in stereo ormono.

• Radio Text: text messages from theradio channel

Preset channels

Up to 10 stations can be preset in both DAB and FM mode, this will enable you to

access your favourite stations more quickly.

Note: Nomore than 15 seconds must elapse between button-presses otherwise

theCD player will return to theprevious displaymode.

Saving aradio channel as apreset channel

1. Choose thechannel that you wish tosave.

2. Press and hold in [PRE/PROG] until “P1” starts to ﬂash on thedisplay.

3. Select aslot for thechannel by pressing [|◄◄/TUNE-] or [►►|/TUNE+].

4. Save by pressing [■/ENTER]. “Preset stored” will appear on thedisplay.

Selecting achannel from thepreset channels

1. Press [PRE/PROG]. “Preset Recall” will appear on thedisplay.

2. Press [|◄◄/TUNE-] or [►►|/TUNE+] repeatedly to navigate thepreset

channellist.

3. Select achannel number and conﬁrm by pressing [■/ENTER].

If you choose achannel slot which has no preset radio channel on it, “Empty” will be

shown on thedisplay.

Audio source input (AUX IN)

1. Connect anexternal audio source to the3.5mm input jack (16) on theback of

theCD player.

2. Selecting anaudio source: Settheselector (13) to AUXmode. “AUX” appears on

thedisplay.

3. Start playback on theexternal audio source.

4. Adjust thevolume to adesiredlevel.
