Safety

• The product must not be used by children under theage of

8years. Theproduct may be used by children aged 8 or over

under adult supervision. Theproduct may be used by per-

sons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or

persons with alack of experience or knowledge which could

jeopardise their safety, provided they have been instructed in

thesafe operation of theproduct and understand thehazards

involved.

• Keep theproduct and its mains lead out of reach of children

under theage of8.

• Cleaning and user maintenance must not be performed by

children without adult supervision.

• If the mains lead has been damaged, it must only be replaced

by the manufacturer, authorised service facility or qualiﬁed

tradesman.

• The product must never be used with atimer or other equip-

ment which turns it on automatically.

• The product is intended for indoor useonly.

• The product should be placed on aﬁrm, level surface with

thehandle positioned in such away as to minimise therisk of

hot oil spills.

• Never immerse theproduct in water or other liquid.

• The product is only intended for normal domestic use as de-

scribed in this instruction manual and in similar environments

such as canteens, ofﬁces, and hotels.

The housing of theproduct can become very hot duringuse.

• Never leave theproduct unattended duringuse.

• Never attempt to put out anoil ﬁre withwater. Unplug

themains lead and smother theﬁre using aﬁre blanket or

wettowel.

• Ensure that theproduct is used with thecorrect voltage.

Referto therating plate on theproduct.

• The product should only be connected to a220–240 V,

50/60 Hz mains outlet protected by a30 mA residual-current

circuit breaker (RCD).

• Always unplug theproduct from thewall outlet before

cleaning it or when it is not to be used for alongtime.

• Do not open thehousing. Certain unshielded components

inside thehousing carry dangerous voltages. Contact with

these components could result in electricshock.

• Never use theproduct if it is in any way damaged or not

working properly or if themains lead or plug is damaged.

Donot use theproduct if you have dropped it on theﬂoor

or into water or other liquid.

• Do not pull or carry theproduct by its mainslead. Donot use

thelead as ahandle and make sure that it is not crushed.

Donot pull thelead around sharp corners oredges.

• The product becomes very hot duringuse. Becareful not to

touch any hot parts with your barehands. Nevertouch parts

of theproduct other than thehandle.

• Never use theproduct if your hands are moist orwet.

• Never use theproduct if it iswet.

• Make sure that theparts of theproduct are correctly assem-

bled and that theproduct is switched off before connecting it

to thepower supply.

• Make sure that themains lead does not come in contact with

hot surfaces such as cookerhobs.

• Never move theproduct while it contains hotoil.

• Never add water to theoil. Makesure that thefood to be fried

is adry as possible.

Before initial use

Wash thefrying basket and container before using them for theﬁrsttime.

1. Take off thelid and remove thefrying basket from theoil container.

Donot subject it to knocks orblows.

2. Wash thebasket and oil container in warm water and washing-up liquid.

3. Rinse and thoroughly dry all theparts.

Never plug thefryer into themains or switch it on unless theoil container is ﬁlled

with asufﬁcient amount of oil for frying. Ensure that thecontrol panel assembly is

mounted correctly. There is asafety cut-off switch on thecontrol panel which must be

pressed in in order for theheating element to becomehot.

Assembly

1. Place theoil container (13) inside

thehousing (12).

2. Slide thecontrol panel assembly

down into theholder on thehousing.

3. Attach thehandle onto

thefrying basket. Firsthook

thehandleon.

4. Then ﬂip thehandle over theside of

thebasket so that it locks intoplace.

Instructions for use

Warning: Hot oil and fat can cause serious burns, be careful.

Always switch thefryer off and unplug it from thewall socket afteruse.

1. Make sure that thetemperature control knob is in turned down

tozero.

2. Remove thelid.

3. Pour2.2–3 litres of anappropriate oil for frying into theoil

container. Adjust thelevel according to what you plan tofry.

4. Smear alittle oil onto theviewing window to prevent it from

fogging up during frying.

5. Reﬁt thelid.

6. Connect theplug to awall socket. Thepower indicator

light will shinered.

7. The green indicator light is lit during warm-up and turns off once theset

temperature has been reached. Ittakes about 15–20 minutes for theoil to reach

operating temperature.

8. Remove thelid.

9. Lower thefrying basket containing dry food into theoil container.

10. Reﬁt thelid.

11. Once thefood has been fried, turn thetemperature down to zero and unplug

thefryer from thewall socket.

12. Remove thelid. Whenremoving thelid, watch out for hot steam created during

frying. Steamcould scaldyou.

13. Lift out thefrying basket by thehandle and hook it over theside of thehousing.

Lettheoil drain out for approximately 10–30 seconds.

14. Do not move thefryer until theoil has cooled completely.

15. Change theoil after 8–10 uses or when necessary.

Frying tips

• Start by frying at thelowest frying temperature.

• When you fry batches of similar food theoil may cool slightly. Between batches

you should wait 3–5 minutes until thefryer regains thecorrect frying temperature.

Thegreen indicator light turns off once thefryer is ready to beused.

• Food which has been precooked requires higher temperatures but

ashorter frying time compared to food that israw.

• Never ﬁll thefrying basket to more than half-full.

• Never mix different types ofoils.

• Use vegetable oil, maize (corn) oil or olive oil for deep-frying. Wedo not recom-

mend using oil with ashort shelf life such as sunﬂoweroil.

Care and maintenance

The frying basket and oil container are dishwashersafe.

Never immerse thecontrol panel, mains lead or plug in water or other liquids.

1. Unplug thefryer from thepower point and make sure that theoil has cooled

(1–2 hours after use) before cleaning thefryer.

2. Remove thebasket from theoil container.

3. Empty thefrying oil into anappropriate storage container.

4. Wash thelid in warm water and washing-up liquid.

5. The exterior of thefryer can be cleaned using aslightly moistenedcloth.

Neveruse awashing-up brush or chemical cleaning agents.

Filtering theoil

1. Remove thebasket from theoil

container and empty thecooled oil

into aplastic bottle or other suitable

container.

2. Filter theoil through acoffee ﬁlter

for instance.

Resetting

If for some reason thefryer stops heating, thereason

may be that thesafety cut-off switch has tripped.

To reset theswitch:

1. Unplug themains lead from thewall socket.

2. Let the fryer and theoil cooldown.

3. Lift up thecontrol panel assembly and reset

thesafety cut-off switch by pressing it in using

apointed object such as apen.

4. Reﬁt theparts in thereverseorder.

6. The frying oil may be ﬁltered and

reused but should probably be

changed after every 8–10 uses

or before if necessary. Remove

theﬁlter cover on thetop of thelid

and check theﬁlter. Ifit needs to

be washed, remove theﬁlter and

wash it in warm soapywater.

Troubleshooting guide
