Extron electronics MDA EQ Series Bedienungsanleitung

MDA EQ Series Setup Guide

Installation

1. Turn off and disconnect all equipment from the power source.

2. (Optional) If desired, mount the MDA EQ on a 9.5, 6, or 3.5 inch deep rack shelf; a

projector mounting pole; or furniture.

3. Connect a composite video or an S-video source device to the Input connector.

4. Connect one or two video output devices to the composite video or S-video output

connectors.

5. (Optional) Connect a monitor to the Loop-Thru connector for passive loop-through.

6. Set the termination toggle switch:

оIf a monitor is connected to the Loop-Thru connector, set the

switch to High Z (up).

оIf no monitor is connected, set the switch to 75 Ohm (down).

7. Wire the provided power supply as shown below and connect it to

the 2-pole, 3.5 mm captive screw connector.

CAUTION: Always use a power supply provided by Extron for the MDA EQ series. Use of

an unauthorized power supply voids all regulatory compliance certification and may

cause damage to the supply and the MDA.

The Extron® MDA EQ Series are compact mini distribution amplifiers available with

composite video or S-video and with individual output gain and equalization controls

that compensate for different cable lengths for each output. Each adjustment on the

MDA 4SV EQ model equalizes two outputs. The MDA EQ products are also line drivers,

able to equalize signals sent over 1000 feet (300 m) of Extron Mini High Resolution cable.

This guide provides basic instructions for an experienced installer to set up these

distribution amplifiers for operation.

CAUTION: The power supply must not be permanently fixed to the building structure or

similar structures.

The power supply must not be located within environmental air handling spaces or

the wall cavity.

The installation must be in accordance with the applicable provisions of the

National Electrical Code ANSI/NFPA 70, Article 725 and the Canadian Electrical Code,

Part 1, Section 16.

The power supply must be located within the same vicinity as the Extron A/V

processing equipment in an ordinary location, Pollution Degree 2, secured to a

podium, a desk, or an equipment rack within a dedicated closet.

8. Connect power cords to the input and output devices and turn on all equipment.

9. Adjust the potentiometers for output cable lengths (if needed).

оIf using very short output cables, set all potentiometers to the default setting

(with the arrow on the potentiometer pointing to the dot beside it as shown).

Figure 2. MDA 4SV EQ Default Potentiometer Adjustment

оIf using long cables, follow these steps to adjust the potentiomenters:

a. Send the Color Bars test signal

to the input, using a video test

generator such as the Extron

VTG 300.

b. Adjust the Gain potentiometers

for output 1 until the signal

level at the far end is the same

as the input (or the display

shows the desired brightness

and contrast).

c. Adjust the EQ potentiometer

for output 1 so that no

overshoot or round front

corners appear at the far end

on an oscilloscope (or you

see a sharp picture with no

smearing).

d. Repeat steps b and c for the

rest of the outputs.
