Mini Light Tower

Instruction Manual

WARNING:

READ CAREFULLY BEFORE INSTALLING FIXTURE. RETAIN THESE INSTRUCTIONS FOR FUTURE REFERENCE.

CRITICAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS:

•INSTALLATION SHOULD ONLY BECONDUCTED BY A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN IN ACCORDANCE WITH NEC AND ANY

RELEVANT LOCAL BUILDING CODES.

•RISK OFFIRE OR ELECTRIC SHOCK. FIXTURE INSTALLATION REQUIRES KNOWLEDGE OF FIXTURE'S ELECTRICAL

SYSTEMS. IFNOTQUALIFIED, CONTACT A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN.

•BE CERTAIN ELECTRICAL POWER IS OFF BEFORE AND DURING INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE.

•MAKE SURE THE SUPPLY VOLTAGE IS THE SAME AS THE FIXTURE'S RATED VOLTAGE.

•TO PREVENT WIRING DAMAGE OR ABRASION, DO NOT EXPOSE WIRING TO EDGES OF SHEET METAL OR SHARP

OBJECTS. SUITABLE FOR DAMP LOCATIONS.

The Larson Electronics WAL-ML-2XM-3G Mini Light Tower with 3000VA Generator from Larson Electronics is an ideal

solution for operators who need a fully portable yet easy to operate light system capable of illuminating large areas.

Adjustable from 7 to 12 feet in height and equipped with a 3000VA generator and two 1000 watt metal halide lamps, this

unit will provide over 200,000 lumens of illumination for up to 6 hours on a single tank of fuel.

Uncrating

Unpack your new generator operated light tower by removing the plastic and cardboard that

surrounds the crate. Once the covers are removed, the crate will need to be disassembled so

you can remove the cart, head and mast (you will need a #2 square head drill bit and a drill to

do this). Once you have removed the wood framing you will be able to remove the generator

cart, light head, and mast.

Installing Light Mast

*Video available, see below installation steps for link

1. First, remove light head from shipping mast by loosening T-handle screw and lifting it off.

2. Remove shipping mast by removing the hardware holding it in place at the base.

3. Install light head onto top of light mast by slipping it over the top, and tightening the T-

handle screw to secure.

4. Place light mast in same location the shipping mast was removed from, with the winch

facing away from the generator. Secure using the hardware removed in step 2.

5. Mast is now assembled and ready for use.

**CAUTION: THIS UNIT IS HEAVY AND MAY REQUIRE 2 OR MORE PEOPLE TO UNPACK AND ASSEMBLE**

Installation Video: See video below. Make note of shipping mast mounting method. Install light mast in the same

manner. All you need to do is remove the shipping mast and install the light mast on the generator base. Get someone’s

assistance to help lift the mast to install it on the generator base. Be sure that the bottom hole on the lower part of the

mast lines up with the hole in the mounting plate on the generator base. Once lined up install the provided bolt, washers,

nuts and pin removed from the shipping mast.

NOTE: FOLLOW VIDEO ACCORDINGLY. SEE REVISED MOUNTING METHOD FOR MAST BELOW. A PIN IS

INSTALLED ON TOP OF BRACKET AND IN FRONT OF MAST.

WAL-ML-2XM-3G

Operation

The WAL-ML-2XM-3G mini light tower is a portable lighting system designed for stand alone operation and high mobility

while providing enough output to illuminate approximately 2 acres of area effectively. Simple position the the unit in a

level location by rolling it into place. The handlebar can be articulated if you remove the top pin in the base holding it

vertical. We suggest using wheel chocks to prevent unwanted movement.

Outriggers

Once the unit is in desired location, outriggers can now be deployed. For the rear outriggers, loosen the T-handle screws

on the underside of the unit, and pull outriggers outward until the flange stops at the T-handle screws. If you pull the

flange out completely, push it back in just past the screw and tighten T-handle to secure it in place. The T-handle screws

for the front are not installed, as they must be left out when moving the unit to allow full steering rotation. Pull outriggers

out to the same point as the rears, then install T-handle screws and tighten to secure. Next, loosen each T-handle screw

holding the legs up and allow them to drop into place against the ground or floor. Outriggers can be adjusted to level the

light tower itself before raising.

Mast Extension

Extend the mast by turning the winch handle clock wise. The mast can be elevated to any point desired as it has a brake

system on the winch that will hold it in position. Be sure mast is level before raising. Turn winch handle in the opposite

direction to lower mast. If mast is not level, it may not lower properly. Keep an eye on the winch cable and mast as you

lower it to ensure it is still moving down. If mast stops and cable has slack, turn winch clockwise again to put the tension

back on the cable and try lowering it again.

Do not overextend the mast past it's 12' max height, as this could cause damage to the cable or pulleys, and cause

the mast to come down in an uncontrolled manner causing damage or injury. There is an upstop bolt on the side of the

mast, be sure this stays in place close to the inner mast to prevent it from being overextended.

Generator

Pre-start checks:

•Check the generator for motor oil. Your generator will specify the correct oil and amount.

•Please check this before you start the generator. Failure to do so will damage the engine.

•Fill the generator up with fuel before trying to start it. We recommend 91 octane or better for optimal performance.

On top of the generator, there is a fuel gauge that will identify how much fuel is in the unit's reserves. To add fuel,

simply locate the gas cap on the top of the generator, remove the cap, ensure the fuel filter is in place and pour fuel

in. After fueling up the generator, replace the cap and secure it by rotating clockwise until you hear it click.

oNOTE: it is important to have the fuel filter in any time you wish to add fuel. This screen helps keep debris

out of the tank and keep your fuel clean.

•Before operation, ensure the STOP switch is in the STOP position.

To Start:

•Before start-up, ensure there is nothing connected to the generator in any of the receptacles. Generator should be

started and stopped with no load.

•Flip the STOP/RUN switch to the RUN position.

•Make sure the fuel petcock is in the ON position. For cold start, you'll also

want to make sure the yellow choke lever is moved into the choke position.

•Pull the ripcord to start the generator. Allow the generator to run

for a couple of minutes to allow revs and voltage to stabilize

before connecting anything to it.

NOTE: If the engine fails to keep running, try pulling the starter

cord one more time.

•Once generator is warmed up and revs have stabilized, you may

connect the lights to the receptacle on the generator. Light head is

fitted with a twist lock plug that must be turned in the receptacle to

secure it.

•To turn the generator off, flip the STOP/RUN switch to the STOP position.

Maintenance

•Check the oil regularly, as shown above, to verify there is enough in the engine

before running.

•Check the air filter regularly and replace as necessary. Air filter is located in the

black casing at one end of the generator, as shown in the picture to the right.
