Chapter 1. About the ireless WAN adapter

This manual pro ides general information about ThinkPad®EM7345 4G LTE Mobile Broadband. Hereafter

referred to as the wireless WAN adapter.

Product description

If you are using aThinkPad computer that supports the wireless Wide Area Network (WAN) adapter, you

can install the wireless WAN adapter into aPeripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) Express M.2 card

slot in your computer.

The option package includes the following:

•ThinkPad EM7345 4G LTE Mobile Broadband

Chapter 2. Installing the ireless WAN adapter

This chapter pro ides information about installing the wireless WAN adapter, and instructions on how to

conﬁgure the wireless WAN adapter on the Microsoft®Windows®8operating systems.

Before you begin

Before installing the wireless WAN adapter, carefully read the following information .

Attention: The wireless WAN adapter is shipped with an antistatic bag. When handling, take the following

precautions to pre ent static electricity from damaging the electronic parts:

• Do not open the antistatic bag until you are ready to install the wireless WAN adapter into the PCI Express

M.2 card slot in your computer.

• Before remo ing the wireless WAN adapter from the antistatic bag, drain static electricity from the bag

and from your body by touching the bag to ametal table or agrounded metal object.

Installing the ireless WAN adapter

When installing or replacing the wireless WAN adapter, be sure to follow the precautions below.

DANGER

During electrical storms, do not connect the cable to or disconnect it from the telephone outlet

on the all.

DANGER

Electric current from po er, telephone, and communication cables is hazardous. To avoid shock

hazard, disconnect the cables before opening the cover of the PCI Express M.2 card slot.

To install the wireless WAN adapter, do the following:

1. Turn off the computer.

2. Install the wireless WAN adapter following the step-by-step instructions in the user guide for your

ThinkPad computer. Go to http://www.leno o.com/UserManuals for your ThinkPad computer user guide.

3. Restart your computer.

Conﬁguring the ireless WAN adapter on Windo s operating systems

To conﬁgure the wireless WAN adapter on the Windows 8operating systems, do the following:

For the Windo s 8operating systems:

1. Download and install the de ice dri er for the wireless WAN adapter and the Leno o Mobile Access

(LMA) program by doing one of the following:

• Go to http://www.leno o.com/support/wireless, and then follow the instructions on the screen.

• Use the System Update program by doing the following:

a. Right-click anywhere on the Start screen, and then click All apps on the bottom bar. The Apps

menu is displayed.

b. Click System Update,and then follow the instructions on the screen.

2. Start the LMA program to acti ate the wireless WAN adapter. An account with amobile broadband

Ser ice Pro ider is required.

Note: If there is no LMA program installed on the computer, search the LMA program in the Windows

Store and install it before you begin.

3. Click Lenovo Mobile Access from the Start screen, and then follow the instructions on the screen.

Chapter 3. Troubleshooting

If you experience the following problem with the wireless WAN adapter, try the solution pro ided to sol e

the problem.

Problem:Iha e correctly installed the wireless WAN adapter on my computer, but the computer fails to

recognize the wireless WAN adapter.

Solution:Reset the Uniﬁed Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) Basic Input/Output System (BIOS)

conﬁguration of your computer to the default settings by doing the following:

1. Turn on the computer.

2. When you see the ThinkPad logo screen, press F1 to enter the BIOS.

3. Press F9, and then select Yes to load the default conﬁguration.

4. Press F10 to sa e conﬁguration changes and exit. The Setup Conﬁrmation window opens.

5. Select Yes in the Setup Conﬁrmation window. The computer restarts.

Note: After the computer restarts, the BIOS changes are automatically sa ed. There is no need to reset

the BIOS conﬁguration again the next time you start your computer.
