Installing your refrigerator

Before installing your refrigerator

• Remove the exterior and interior packing.

• Let your refrigerator stand upright for approximately four hours before

connecting it to power. This reduces the possibility of a malfunction in the

cooling system from incorrect handling during transportation.

• Clean the interior surface with lukewarm water using a soft cloth.

Finding a suitable location

• Place your refrigerator on a floor that’s strong enough to support your

refrigerator when it is fully loaded.

• Allow 5 in. (12.7 cm) of space between the back and sides of your refrigerator

and any surrounding walls. This allows correct air ventilation. Adjust the foot

to keep your refrigerator level.

CAUTION: Your refrigerator is not designed for a recessed installation.

• Locate your refrigerator away from direct sunlight and sources of heat (stove,

heater, radiator, and so on). Direct sunlight may affect the acrylic coating and

heat sources may increase electrical consumption. Ambient temperature

below 50° F (10° C) or above 85° F (29.4° C) hinders the performance of your

refrigerator. Your refrigerator is not designed for use in a garage or any other

outside installation.

• Avoid locating your refrigerator in moist areas.

Connecting power

• This refrigerator should be properly grounded for your safety. The power cord

of this refrigerator is equipped with a three-prong plug which plugs into a

standard three-prong wall outlet to minimize the possibility of electrical

shock.

• Do not, under any circumstances, cut or remove the third ground prong from

the power cord supplied.

• This refrigerator requires a standard 115 ~ 60Hz Volt AC electrical outlet with a

three-prong ground.

• This refrigerator is not designed to be used with an inverter.

• The cord should be secured behind your refrigerator, and not left exposed or

dangling, to prevent accidental injury.

• Never unplug your refrigerator by pulling on the power cord. Always grip the

plug firmly and pull straight out from the receptacle.

• Do not use an extension cord with this appliance. If the power cord is too

short, have a qualified electrician or service technician install an outlet near

the appliance. Use of an extension cord can negatively affect the performance

of the unit.

Leveling your refrigerator

• Your refrigerator must be level in order to function correctly. If your

refrigerator isn’t leveled during installation, the door may not close or seal

correctly and cause cooling, frost, or moisture problems.

• To level your refrigerator, turn the leveling foot (front) counter-clockwise to

raise a side of your refrigerator or turn it clockwise to lower a side.

WARNING: ELECTRICAL SHOCK HAZARD

Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, fire, or electrical shock.

• A 15-20 amp fused, grounded electrical supply is required. This provides the best

performance and also prevents overloading wiring circuits which could cause a fire hazard

from overheated wires.

• The refrigerator should always be connected to its own individual electrical branch leading

directly to the main voltage source or distribution panel.

• Immediately discontinue use if the power cord has been damaged. If the cord is damaged, it

must be repaired by a qualified service professional.

• When removing your refrigerator away from the wall, be careful not to roll over or damage

the power cord.

Note: Having someone push against the top of your refrigerator helps to take some weight off

the leveling foot and makes it easier to adjust.

Installing the handle

1Remove the handle package from your refrigerator.

2Push the handle horizontally onto the base until it clicks into place.

3Try the handle to make sure that it is installed correctly.

Using your refrigerator

Setting the thermostat

1The first time you turn your refrigerator on, adjust the thermostat to 4and let

your refrigerator cool at least four hours before putting food inside. This

makes sure that the cabinet is thoroughly chilled before food is put in.

Note: The handles are not removable after installation.

Note: Your refrigerator has a single thermostat that controls both the refrigerator and freezer

temperatures. The refrigerator and freezer temperatures cannot be set independently.

Note: Your refrigerator’s temperature ranges from 32° to 50° F (0° to 10° C).

Temperature control

Interior light

10 www.insigniaproducts.com

2After it is fully cooled, test the temperature and adjust towards 1to make it

less cool or towards 7to make it cooler, as needed. The 4setting should be

appropriate for home or office refrigerator use.

3To turn off your refrigerator, set the thermostat to 0.

Using your refrigerator compartment

• The refrigerator compartment is suitable for storage of a variety of fruits,

vegetables, beverages, and other food consumed in the short term.

• Do not place cooked foods in your refrigerator until they have cooled to room

temperature.

• Wrap or seal foods in containers before putting them into your refrigerator.

• Adjust the glass shelves’position up or down to accommodate your stored

foods.

• Large amounts of food will lower the cooling efficiency of your refrigerator.

Adjusting the refrigerator shelves

The two glass shelves in the refrigerator compartment can be adjusted to various

heights, as needed.

1To remove a shelf, lift the back of the shelf, then gently pull it forward until the

shelf comes clear of the shelf guides.

2When reinserting a shelf, make sure that there is nothing behind it, then

gently push the shelf back into position.

Using the crisper drawer

Use the crisper drawer to store vegetables and fruits. The crisper cover controls

the temperature of the crisper and prevents moisture loss.

Using the freezer compartment

• The freezer compartment is designed for the long-term storage of frozen food.

• The storage life of frozen foods varies and the recommended storage time

should not be exceeded. If there are instructions on the package, carefully

follow those instructions regarding storage times.

• Place frozen food into the freezer as quickly as possible after purchase.

Notes:

• Turning the thermostat to 0stops the cooling cycle but doesn’t shut off the power to your

refrigerator.

• If your refrigerator is unplugged or loses power, you must wait three to five minutes before

restarting it. If you try to restart it before this time delay, your refrigerator won’t start.

• Large amounts of food lower the cooling efficiency of your refrigerator.

• When changing the thermostat setting, adjust it one increment at a time. Wait several hours

for the temperature to stabilize between adjustments.

CAUTION: To prevent damage, never close the refrigerator door while the shelves or crisper

drawers are extended.
