VERWENDUNGSZWECK

Dieser Werkzeugsatz dient zum Einstellung und Überprüfen der Motorsteuerzeiten an BMW M60,

M62 & M62TU V8 Motoren, verbaut in BMW Modellen: 530i (1994-1995), 540i (1997-2003), 740i

(1993-1995), 740iL (1993-2001), 840Ci (1995-1996), X5 (2000-2003) und Rover Modelle.

SICHERHEITSHINWEISE

•Vorsicht bei Arbeiten am laufenden Motor. Lose Kleidung, Werkzeuge und andere

Gegenstände können von drehenden Teilen erfasst werden und schwere Verletzungen

verursachen.

•Vorsicht bei Arbeiten an heißen Motoren, es besteht Verbrennungsgefahr!

•Entfernen Sie vor der Reparatur den Zündschlüssel, so verhindern Sie ein versehentliches

Starten des Motors und einen dadurch entstehenden Motorschaden.

•Diese Anleitung dient als Kurzinformation und ersetzt keinesfalls ein Werkstatthandbuch.

Entnehmen Sie bitte technische Angaben wie Drehmomentwerte und Hinweise zur

Demontage und Montage immer der fahrzeugspezifischen Serviceliteratur.

•Nach erfolgter Reparatur bzw. vor dem Starten den Motor min. 2 Umdrehungen von Hand

drehen und die Steuerzeiten erneut überprüfen.

•Drehen Sie den Motor nur in normale Drehrichtung (im Uhrzeigersinn), soweit nicht anders

angegeben.

•Einstellwerkzeuge für Nocken- und Kurbelwellen niemals als Gegenhalter beim Lösen oder

Festziehen von Verschraubung an Riemenscheiben, Nocken- oder Kurbelwellenrädern

verwenden. Werkzeuge und Motorbauteile können dadurch beschädigt werden. Verwenden

Sie ausschließlich Werkzeuge, die für diesen Zweck geeignet sind.

UMWELTSCHUTZ

Recyceln Sie unerwünschte Stoffe, anstatt sie als Abfall zu entsorgen. Verpackungen sind

zu sortieren, einer Wertstoffsammelstelle zuzuführen und umweltgerecht zu entsorgen.

Erkundigen Sie sich bei Ihrer örtlichen Abfallbehörde über Recyclingmaßnahmen.

Entsorgen Sie dieses Produkt am Ende seiner Lebensdauer umweltgerecht.

VERWENDUNG

Kurbelwelle in OT-Position bringen und mit

Arretierstift (6) fixieren.

Einstellwerkzeuge (1+2), markiert mit A1-4 und

E1-4, wie in der Abbildung zu sehen auf die

Nockenwellen der Zylinderbank 1 aufsetzen.

VERWENDUNG

HINWEIS

In OT-Stellung zeigen die Bohrungen (D) in der

Nockenwelle nach oben.

Einstellwerkzeuge (3+4), markiert mit A5-8 und

E5-8, wie in der Abbildung zu sehen auf die

Nockenwellen der Zylinderbank 2 aufsetzen.

ACHTUNG

E = Einlassnockenwelle

A = Auslassnockenwelle

HINWEIS

In OT-Stellung zeigen die Bohrungen (D) in der

Nockenwelle nach oben.

Alle Nockenwellen können mit einem

Gabelschlüssel an dem Profil (C) gedreht

werden, die Einstellwerkzeuge müssen spielfrei

auf dem Zylinderkopf anliegen.

VORSICHT

Beim Drehen der Nockenwelle mit einem

Maulschlüssel den Zylinderkopf nicht

beschädigen.

INTENDED USE

This tool set is used for adjusting and checking the engine timing on BMW M60, M62 & M62TU V8

engines, built-in BMW Models: 530i (1994-1995), 540i (1997-2003), 740i (1993-1995), 740iL (1993-

2001), 840Ci (1995-1996), X5 (2000-2003) and Rover models.

SAFETY INFORMATIONS

•If you remove the ignition key before repairing, you can prevent the engine from being started

accidentally and resulting in engine damage.

•This manual serves as a brief guide and does not replace a workshop manual. Always refer to

the vehicle-specific service literature, particularly the technical data such as torque values and

instructions for disassembly/assembly, etc.

•After repair or before starting the engine, turn a minimum of 2 turns by hand and check the

timing again.

•Turn the engine only in the normal direction of rotation (clockwise unless otherwise specified)

•Do not use locking tools for camshaft and crankshaft as a counter-holder, during loosening or

tightening screws on pulley, camshaft or crankshaft. This can damage tools and engine

components. Only use tools that are suitable for this purpose.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

Recycle unwanted materials instead of disposing of them as waste. Packaging should be

sorted, taken to a recycling centre and disposed of in a manner which is compatible with

the environment. Contact your local solid waste authority for recycling information. Dispose

of this product at the end of its working life environmentally.

USE

Rotate engine into TDC position.

Secure crankshaft in TDC position with tool (6)

Fit alignment blocks (1+2) marked A1-4 and E1-4

to cylinder bank 1 as shown.

USE

NOTE

In TDC position of first cylinder, marker bores (D)

of camshaft point upwards.

Fit alignment blocks (3+4) marked A5-8 and E5-8

to cylinder bank 2 as shown.

IMPORTANT

E = Intake (Einlass)

A = Exhaust (Auslass)

NOTE

In TDC position of first cylinder, marker bores (D)

of camshaft point upwards.

Align all camshafts with open-end wrench so the

alignment blocks fit on the cylinder heads with no

gaps.

CAUTION

Do not damage the cylinder head when using

wrench to turn camshaft.

USE

Fit one of clamps (5) to E1-4 and A1-4 alignment

blocks (1+2) as shown using spark plug threads.

Fit the other clamps (5) to A5-8 and E5-8

alignment blocks (3+4) as shown using spark

plug threads.

rotation et provoquer de graves blessures.

•Soyez prudent lorsque vous allez exécuter des travaux sur des moteurs chauds, il y a risque

de brûlures !

•Retirez la clé de contact avant d’entamer la réparation, vous évitez ainsi de démarrer le moteur

par inadvertance et, en conséquence, des dommages du moteur.

•Ces instructions sont fournies à titre d’information, elles ne remplacent en aucun cas un

manuel d’atelier. Veuillez toujours observer les données techniques, comme les valeurs de

couple, instructions de démontage et montage, etc., contenues dans les documents d’atelier

de votre véhicule spécifique.

•Après une réparation ou avant le démarrage du moteur, faites 2 rotations à la main minimum

et revérifiez ensuite les temps de distribution.

•Faites tourner le moteur uniquement dans le sens de rotation normal (sauf indication contraire,

le sens des aiguilles d’une montre.

•N’utilisez jamais les outils de réglage pour arbres à cames et vilebrequins comme dispositif de

retenue lorsque vous desserrez ou serrez les écrous des poulies de courroie, de l’arbre à

cames ou des pignons de vilebrequin. Cela peut endommager les outils et les composants du

moteur. N’utilisez que des outils appropriés pour cet objectif.

PROTECTION DE L’ENVIRONNEMENT

Recyclez les matières indésirables au lieu de les jeter comme déchets. Les emballages

doivent être triés, envoyés à un point de collecte de recyclage et éliminés dans le respect

UTILISATION

Placez le vilebrequin en position point mort

supérieur et fixez-le à l’aide de la pige de

blocage (6).

Placez les outils de réglage (1+2) marqués A1-4

et E1-4 sur les arbres à cames du banc de

cylindres 1, comme illustré.

ATTENTION

E = arbres à cames d’admission

A = arbre à cames d’échappement
