Safety Precautions

During a plotting or cutting operation, do not touch

the writing panel, carriage, and other moving parts.

the tool carriage.

strange odor, or otherwise functions abnormally, do

Move the tool carriage slowly when moving it

manually in order to load the medium or for other

reasons.

• Movng t quckly may damage the plotter.

When using the cutter pen, take care not to extend

the cutter blade excessively.

• An excessve blade length wll damage the cuttng mat and

mpar the plotter's cuttng qualty.

When disconnecting the power cord or an interface

cable, do not pull on the cord/cable.

• Such acton wll damage the cord/cable, resultng n a fre

hazard or electrcal shock. Be sure to hold the power cord's

plug or the nterface cable's connector.

Do not clean the plotter using a volatile solvent (such

as thinner or benzine).

mechanisms.

the vicinity of the tool carriage.

• The magnetc force may destroy the data on the magnetc

Provide sufficient space around the plotter so that

the media does not strike any objects in the plotter’

s vicinity during cutting or plotting.

• Such contact may cause cuttng or plottng to go out of

algnment.

do not continue using it. Turn off its power and

unplug its power cord from the electrical socket.

Safety Precautions

When using indoor illumination such as a

fluorescent lamp or a floor lamp, make sure that

such illumination is positioned at least one meter

away from the plotter.

• Insuffcent dstance may cause the sensors to malfuncton

and prevent correct detecton of the loaded medum.

If an edge of the loaded medium comes loose,

secure it with drafting tape or a similar means.

• The cutter’s blade may break f ts tp gets caught on a loose

edge of the medum.

Before cutting a medium when you are uncertain

of its optimum cutting conditions, run a test cut in

advance.

• A cuttng operaton based on unsutably specfed cuttng

condtons wll place a heavy load on the blade and plotter,

causng the blade to break or the plotter to break down.

perform cuttng and plottng operatons at hgh speed and hgh precson.

Besdes beng used to cut markng flm and other meda, your plotter can also be used as a pen plotter.

To ensure optmum use of the plotter’s varous functons, be sure to read ths manual thoroughly before use.

Precautions on the Handling of Cutter Pens

Ths product uses a cuttng blade. To prevent njures (when replacng the cutter blade, nstallng the cutter

pen, etc.), take the followng precautons when handlng the cutter blade.

Cutter Blade

The blades are sharp. Be careful not to cut your fngers or prck yourself when handlng the cutter pen.

Blade tip

Return used blades to the accessory cutter blade case and throw them all out together when the whole case has been

flled.

Cutter Pen

The tp conssts of a sharp blade. Do not extend t too far.

After Mounting the Cutter Pen

After the power has been turned on, and durng operaton, do not touch the pen tp. It s dangerous.

Precautions After Turning on the Plotter

Durng operatons, mmedately after completon of operatons, and when settng cuttng plotter functons,

the tool carrage, Y bar, and other parts whch are not fxed, may move suddenly. Do not let your hands, har,

or clothng get too close to the movng parts or wthn ther range of movement. Do not place any foregn

objects n or near these areas ether. If your hands, har, clothng, or the lke get caught n, or wrapped

around movng parts, you may be njured and the machne may be damaged.

The Warning Label

The warnng label shown below s attached to the outsde of your plotter’s cover. Be sure to strctly observe

the precauton ndcated on the label.

Cling Mat

(CM-0004/CM-0005)

To set the general materal (markng flm, tack paper, etc.), paste the suppled clng mat on the wrtng panel.

The clng mat s a consumable.

Before usng the clng mat, please be sure to read the separately attached “How to use clng mat (CM-0004 /

CM-0005)” manual.
