During a plotting or cutting operation, do not touch
the writing panel, carriage, and other moving parts.

Move the tool carriage slowly when moving it
manually in order to load the medium or for other
reasons.
• Movng t quckly may damage the plotter.
When using the cutter pen, take care not to extend
the cutter blade excessively.
• An excessve blade length wll damage the cuttng mat and
mpar the plotter's cuttng qualty.
When disconnecting the power cord or an interface
cable, do not pull on the cord/cable.
• Such acton wll damage the cord/cable, resultng n a fre
hazard or electrcal shock. Be sure to hold the power cord's
plug or the nterface cable's connector.

as thinner or benzine).

the media does not strike any objects in the plotter’

algnment.

Safety Precautions
When using indoor illumination such as a
fluorescent lamp or a floor lamp, make sure that
such illumination is positioned at least one meter
away from the plotter.
• Insuffcent dstance may cause the sensors to malfuncton
and prevent correct detecton of the loaded medum.
If an edge of the loaded medium comes loose,
secure it with drafting tape or a similar means.
• The cutter’s blade may break f ts tp gets caught on a loose
edge of the medum.
Before cutting a medium when you are uncertain
of its optimum cutting conditions, run a test cut in
advance.
• A cuttng operaton based on unsutably specfed cuttng
condtons wll place a heavy load on the blade and plotter,
causng the blade to break or the plotter to break down.

Thank you for purchasng an FC4500 Seres Cuttng Plotter. Ths plotter ncorporates a dgtal servo drve to
perform cuttng and plottng operatons at hgh speed and hgh precson.
Besdes beng used to cut markng flm and other meda, your plotter can also be used as a pen plotter.
To ensure optmum use of the plotter’s varous functons, be sure to read ths manual thoroughly before use.

Precautions on the Handling of Cutter Pens
Ths product uses a cuttng blade. To prevent njures (when replacng the cutter blade, nstallng the cutter
pen, etc.), take the followng precautons when handlng the cutter blade.
Cutter Blade
The blades are sharp. Be careful not to cut your fngers or prck yourself when handlng the cutter pen.
Blade tip
Return used blades to the accessory cutter blade case and throw them all out together when the whole case has been
flled.
Cutter Pen
The tp conssts of a sharp blade. Do not extend t too far.

After the power has been turned on, and durng operaton, do not touch the pen tp. It s dangerous.

Precautions After Turning on the Plotter
Durng operatons, mmedately after completon of operatons, and when settng cuttng plotter functons,
the tool carrage, Y bar, and other parts whch are not fxed, may move suddenly. Do not let your hands, har,
or clothng get too close to the movng parts or wthn ther range of movement. Do not place any foregn
objects n or near these areas ether. If your hands, har, clothng, or the lke get caught n, or wrapped
around movng parts, you may be njured and the machne may be damaged.

The warnng label shown below s attached to the outsde of your plotter’s cover. Be sure to strctly observe
the precauton ndcated on the label.

Cling Mat
(CM-0004/CM-0005)
To set the general materal (markng flm, tack paper, etc.), paste the suppled clng mat on the wrtng panel.
The clng mat s a consumable.
Before usng the clng mat, please be sure to read the separately attached “How to use clng mat (CM-0004 /
CM-0005)” manual.
