and to confirm compatibility with other videoconferencing equipment.

Keep the device dry during storage, transportation, and operation of the device.

Prevent collision of the device during storage, transportation, and operation of the

device.

Do not attempt to dismantle the device by yourself. In case of any fault, contact the

appointed maintenance center for assistance or repair.

Without prior written consent, no organization or individual is permitted to make any

change to the structure or safety and performance design of the device.

While using the device, observe all applicable laws, directives and regulations, and

respect the legal rights of other people.

Environment Requirements

Place the device in a well-ventilated place. Do not expose the device to direct sunlight.

Keep the device clean, free of dust and stain.

Do not place the device near a water source or in a damp area.

Install the device strictly according to the requirements from the manufacturer.

Do not place any object on the top of the device. Reserve a minimum space of 10 cm at

the four sides of the device for heat dissipation.

Do not place the device on or near inflammable materials such as foam.

Keep the device away from heat source or fire, such as a radiator or a candle.

Make sure that the device does not get wet. If water gets into the device, disconnect the

power supply immediately and unplug all the cables connected to the device, such as the

power cable, and then contact the appointed maintenance center.

The power supply of the device must meet the requirements of the input voltage of the

device. Use only the provided lightning protection power socket.

Before plugging or unplugging any cable, shut down the device and disconnect the

power supply.

While plugging or unplugging any cable, make sure that your hands are dry.

Do not step on, pull, or overbend any cable. Otherwise, the cable may be damaged,

leading to malfunction of the device.

Do not use old or damaged cables.

Keep the power plug clean and dry, to prevent electric shock or other dangers.

During lightning, disconnect the device from the power supply, and unplug all the cables

connected to the device, such as the power cable, to avoid lightning strike.

If the device is not used for a long time, disconnect the power supply and unplug the

power plug.

Do not look directly into the optical interface on the device. Otherwise, your eyes may

be injured.

In any of the following cases, stop using the device immediately, disconnect the power

supply, unplug the power plug: smoke, sound, or smell is emitted from the device.

Contact the appointed maintenance center for repair.

Make sure that no object (such as metal shavings) enters the device through the heat

dissipation vent.

Before connecting any other cable, connect the grounding cable of the device. Do not

disconnect the grounding cable until you disconnect all the other cables.

Make sure that the three-phase power socket is grounded properly. The neutral line and

the live line cannot be connected inversely.

Do not scratch or abrade the shell of the device. The shed painting may lead to skin

allergy or malfunctions of the device. If the shed painting material drops into the host, a

short circuit may occur.

If the fuse on the device burns out, replace it with the fuse of the same model and

specification, to ensure that the device runs safely.

Cleaning Requirements

Before cleaning the device, stop using it, disconnect the power supply, and unplug all the

cables connected to the device, such as the power cable.

2 Installation Guide

About This Chapter

The MCU can be placed on an even surface or fixed on a customized cabinet.

2.1 Unpacking Check

When the installation personnel arrive at the installation site, check the goods in the presence

of both parties.

Check whether the number of cartons and information about the destination of the goods

are correct and according to the carton labels. Check whether the cartons are intact.

If everything is correct, open the cartons to check the goods inside. If there are any

anomalies, such as incorrect goods, missing goods, or damaged cartons, stop opening the

cartons. Instead, locate the causes and report to the local office of Huawei Technologies

Co., Ltd.

2.2 Installing the MCU and Connecting Cables

Before using the MCU, place it on a hard flat surface or in a cabinet, and then connect cables

as required.

2.2.1 Connecting the Ground Cable

A secure grounding is the foundation of lightning protection and anti-interference for the

MCU. Therefore, the grounding for the device must meet the requirements.

Prerequisites

Before connecting the power cable, ensure that the ground cable is properly connected.

The M6 ground screw located at the lower right side of the back of the MCU cabinet is

used to connect with the ground cable. Ensure that the section area of the ground cable is

equal to or larger than 6 mm2.

Procedure

Step 1 Use a Phillips screwdriver to turn the M6 ground screw anticlockwise to remove it from the

cabinet.

Step 2 Hitch the terminal of the yellowish green ground cable that is provided with the MCU to the

ground screw.

Step 3 Fasten the ground screw to the ground hole securely.

Step 4 Connect the other end of the ground cable to the ground bar on the MCU. Figure 2-1 shows

the schematic diagram for connecting the ground cable.

2.2.2 Connecting the Power Cable

Connecting the DC Power Cable

Connect the DC power cable to the terminal bar as shown in Figure 2-2. Fasten the screws to

secure the connection.

Step 1 Use an M6 sleeve screwdriver to loosen the nut of the terminal of the DC power module.

Step 2 Connect the –48 V OT terminal (the blue one) of the supplied DC power cable to the terminal

(labeled –48 V) of the power module. Fasten the nut. Connect the other end of the cable to the

terminal (labeled –48 V) of the power supply.

Step 3 Connect the GND OT terminal (the black one) of the supplied DC power cable to the terminal

(labeled RTN) of the power module. Fasten the nut. Connect the other end of the cable to the

terminal for providing power input.

Step 4 Connect the PGND OT terminal (the yellowish green one) of the supplied DC power cable to

the terminal (labeled PGND) of the power module. Fasten the nut. Connect the other end of

the cable to the grounding board of the MCU.

2.2.3 Installing the Board

Before Installation

Since the board is vulnerable to electro-static discharge (ESD), you need adhere to the

following regulations while handling the board:

Ground the device as required.

Always wear an antistatic wrist strap during the operation.

Tighten the wrist strap around your wrist skin, and attach the other end of the wrist strap

to the grounding point of the equipment, as shown in Figure 2-4.

Figure 2-4 Wearing an antistatic wrist strap

Check the validity and functionality of the wrist strap. Its resistance should range from

0.75 megohms to 10 megohms. If the validity period (usually two years) of the wrist

strap expires or the resistance value does not meet the requirement, use a new antistatic

wrist strap.

An antistatic wrist strap cannot protect the board from the static electricity generated

when the board touches your clothes. Therefore, any contact between the board and

clothes should be prevented.

When you replace the board software or chipset, you need to use an antistatic mat. When

you pick up or plug/unplug the chipset, use antistatic nippers and a chipset extractor. The

chipsets or pins on the printed circuit board (PCB) should never be touched with bare

hands.

Keep the boards and other ESD sensitive parts to be installed in static shielding bags.

Place the removed boards and components on an antistatic mat or other antistatic

materials. Do not use non-antistatic materials such as white foams, common plastic bags,

or paper bags to pack boards or contact boards with these materials.

Wear an antistatic wrist strap when operating the ports of boards because they are also

ESD-sensitive. Discharge the static electricity of cables and protective sleeves before

connecting them to the ports.
