s combined het/cooling meter with temperture rnge 2 °C...150 °C, however with MID

pprovl on the het register only.

Mechanical environment

M1 nd M2 (ﬁxed instlltion with minimum vibrtion nd ﬁxed instlltion with considerble or

high vibrtion level, respectively).

Electromechanical environment

E1 (housing/light industry). The meter’s signl cbles must be drwn with  minimum distnce of

25 cm to other instlltions.

Climatic environment

Instlltion must tke plce in environments with non-condensing humidity nd in closed

loctions (indoors). The mbient temperture must be within 5 °C…55 °C. The ﬂow sensor, however,

my be instlled in condensing environments.

Maintenance and repair

The ﬂow sensor nd the temperture sensors must not be seprted from the clcultor. Repirs

require subsequent reveriﬁction in n ccredited lbortory.

1 General information

Please read this guide carefully before installing the energy meter.

In case of incorrect mounting, Kamstrup's guarantee obligations no longer apply.

Note tht the following instlltion conditions must be obeyed:

- Pressure stge: PN16/PN25, see mrking. The ﬂow sensor mrking does not pply to

enclosed ccessories.

- Pressure stge

At medium tempertures bove 90 °C, nd below 15 °C, nd the clcultor should be wll-

mounted.

2 Temperature sensors

The temperture sensors used to mesure inlet nd outlet tempertures, respectively, re 

mtched sensor set tht must never be seprted.

Temperture sensors re mounted in MULTICAL® 302 from the fctory. According to EN 1434, the

cble length must not be chnged.

The temperture sensor which is mounted in the ﬂow sensor from the fctory hs no mrking on

the sensor cble. The other sensor, which is mrked with  green plstic ring, must be mounted in

the "opposite" pipe compred to the ﬂow sensor.

2.1 Mounting of temperature sensors

MULTICAL® 302 comes with  Ø 5.2 mm Pt500 sensor pir (mtched sensors) with 1.5 m silicone

cble. This sensor type cn be used s direct sensor using  coupling nd n O-ring nd s pocket

sensor to be mounted in  sensor pocket.

One temperture sensor is mounted in the ﬂow sensor from the fctory. The other sensor ought to

be mounted s direct sensor. Alterntively, both sensors must be mounted in sensor pockets s

symmetricl sensor instlltion gives the best mesuring result. If one of the sensors is not to be

mounted in the ﬂow sensor, it must insted be mounted s close to the outlet of the ﬂow meter s

possible so tht the distnce between the ﬂow sensor nd the temperture sensor is mx. 12 cm.

Asymmetricl sensor instlltion (one direct sensor nd one pocket sensor) is only dvisble

where ntionl regultions llow this, nd never in systems with low differentil temperture nd/

or low wter ﬂow.

Example:

If the disply shows tht the ﬂow sensor is to

be mounted in the inlet pipe, the sensor with

the green plstic ring must be mounted in the

outlet pipe.

2.2 Coupling for direct sensor

Slide the enclosed plstic coupling into plce

from the end of the sensor tube until you feel

 click when the coupling hs reched the ﬁrst

knurling.

The coupling must not be pushed further down

thn the ﬁrst knurling.

No mtter where the direct sensor is instlled,

it is very importnt tht you observe the tole-

rnces stted in the drwing to the left. If not,

the O-ring my not provide correct seling.

3 Information codes "INFO"

MULTICAL® 302 constntly monitors  number of importnt functions. If there is  serious error in

the mesuring system or instlltion,  ﬂshing "INFO" is displyed, nd n info code cn be red

by ctivting the push-button until the mesuring unit displys "INFO". The info code is only shown

if n error hs occurred, unless the meter is conﬁgured for "sttic info codes".

If more thn one info code ppers t  time, the sum of info codes is displyed. If e.g. both

temperture sensors re outside mesuring rnge, info code 12 (info codes 4+8) is displyed.

Info codes 4 nd 8 re set when the temperture flls below 0.00 °C or exceeds 155.00 °C. Info

codes 4 nd 8 re lso set for short-circuited nd disconnected sensors.

Note: If Info = 4 or 8, the meter's energy clcultion nd volume ccumultion stop.

4 Mounting of ﬂow sensor

Prior to instlltion of the ﬂow sensor, the

system should be ﬂushed nd protection

plugs/plstic diphrgms removed from the

ﬂow sensor.

Correct ﬂow sensor position (inlet or outlet)

ppers from the disply of MULTICAL® 302.

The ﬂow direction is indicted by n rrow on

the side of the ﬂow sensor.

The ﬂow sensor my be used in both PN16 nd

PN25 instlltions nd is vilble mrked

either PN16 or PN25 or mrked both PN16 nd

PN25, s required.

Enclosed couplings, if ny, re only intended for PN16. Suitble PN25 couplings must be used in

PN25 instlltions.

In connection with G¾x110 mm, it must be checked tht 12 mm thred run-out is sufﬁcient. See

ﬁgure below.

Stright inlet: MULTICAL® 302 requires neither stright inlet nor stright outlet to meet the Me-

suring Instruments Directive (MID) 2004/22/ EF nd EN 1434:2007. A stright inlet section is only

necessry in cse of hevy ﬂow disturbnces before the meter. It is recommended to follow the

guidelines of CEN CR 13582.

In order to prevent cvittion, the operting pressure t MULTICAL® 302 must be min. 1 br t qp

nd min. 2 br t qs. This pplies to tempertures up to pprox. 80 °C.

MULTICAL® 302 must not be exposed to pressure lower thn the mbient pressure (vcuum).

Important!

The meter is most sensitive to ir bubbles in the

wter when the plstic cse points upwrds.

Therefore, this mounting position ought only

to be used in instlltions with high operting

pressure nd utomtic ventiltion like e.g.

direct connected district heting.

4.2 Flow direction

When the meter is instlled in the ppliction,

it must be ensured tht the ﬂow direction is

correct.

Flow direction out of the ﬁgure – the direction is

indicted on the ﬂow sensor.

Flow direction into the ﬁgure – the direction is

indicted on the ﬂow sensor.

4.3 Installation position

In the upper left corner of the meter disply, n

icon indictes if the meter is positioned in the

inlet or outlet pipe.

It is very importnt to ensure tht the meter

is correctly positioned s either inlet meter or

outlet meter. The instlltion position of the

meter cn be chnged in the Setup Mode (for

further informtion, see prgrph 9.1, pge

13).

4.4 Humidity and condensation

If MULTICAL® 302 is instlled in moist

environments, it must be turned 45° compred

to the pipe xis, s shown in the drwing to the

left.

5 Mounting of calculator

5.1 Compact mounting

The clcultor is mounted directly on the

ﬂow sensor. The clcultor is seled from

the fctory, nd therefore, further seling is

unnecessry, unless the sels on the bck of

the clcultor hve been broken.

In cse of strong condenstion (e.g. cooling

pplictions), wll mounting of the clcultor is

recommended, see prgrph 5.2, pge 10.

insert the cble binder through one of the

mounting eyes Bnd drw it round the cble

5.2 Wall mounting

The wll ﬁtting mkes it possible to mount

MULTICAL® 302 directly on n even wll. Use

the ﬁtting s  templte to mrk nd drill two 6

mm holes in the wll.

5.3 Position of calculator

If the ﬂow sensor is mounted in  humid or

condensing environment, the clcultor must

be plced in  higher position thn the ﬂow

sensor.

6 Battery supply

MULTICAL® 302 is bttery-supplied with either 1 or 2 A-cell btteries. Optiml bttery lifetime is

obtined by keeping the bttery temperture below 30 °C, e.g. by wll mounting.

The voltge of  lithium bttery is lmost constnt throughout the lifetime of the bttery

(pprox. 3.65 V). Therefore, it is not possible to determine the remining cpcity of the bttery by

mesuring the voltge. However, INFO code 128 indictes tht the bttery voltge is too low.

The bttery cnnot nd must not be chrged nd must not be short-circuited. Used btteries must

be hnded in for pproved destruction, e.g. to Kmstrup A/S.
