Read this user manual carefully before you use the appliance and save it

for future reference.



- Never suck up water or any other liquid. Never suck up ammable

substances and do not suck up ashes until they are cold.

- Never immerse the appliance or the charger in water or any other

liquid, nor rinse it under the tap.



- Check if the voltage indicated on the appliance corresponds to the

local mains voltage before you connect the appliance.

- Do not use the appliance or the charger if the plug, the mains cord or

other parts are damaged.



- The adapter and the charger of this appliance cannot be replaced. If

the adapter or charger is damaged, the appliance must be discarded.

- This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children)

with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of

experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision

or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person

responsible for their safety.

- Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with

the appliance.



- Only charge the vacuum cleaner with the adapter and charger

supplied. During charging, the adapter feels warm to the touch. This is

normal.

- The voltage on the contact strips in the charger is low (max. 12 volts)

and therefore not dangerous.

- Always switch off the appliance after use and before you charge it.

- Never block the exhaust air openings during vacuuming.

- Switch off the appliance when you charge it.

- Always use the vacuum cleaner with the lter unit assembled.

- Noise level FC6053: Lc = 82 dB(A)

- Noise level FC6051: Lc = 80 dB(A)

- Noise level FC6050: Lc = 77 dB(A)



This Philips appliance complies with all standards regarding

electromagnetic elds (EMF). If handled properly and according to the

instructions in this user manual, the appliance is safe to use based on

scientic evidence available today.





1 Install the charger in one of the following 2 ways:

1 Attach the charger to the wall as indicated in the gure (Fig. 2).

If you attach the charger to the wall, the space between the screw holes

should be 70mm.

2 You can also place the charger on a horizontal surface (e.g. a table or

desk) (Fig. 3).

2 Wind excess mains cord round the cord storage facility in the

bottom of the charger (Fig. 4).



Charge the appliance for at least 16 hours before you use it for the rst

time.

1 Put the adapter in the wall socket.

2 Place the vacuum cleaner on the charger (Fig. 5).

,The charging light goes on to indicate that the appliance is

charging (Fig. 6).

Note: The charging light stays on as long as the appliance is placed on the

plugged-in charger.

Note: The charging light does not give any information about the charge level

of the built-in batteries.

Note: To optimise the lifetime of the rechargeable batteries, periodically

discharge them completely by letting the appliance run until it stops and then

recharge them fully again.



1 Push the on/off slide forwards to switch on the appliance (Fig. 7).

2 Push the on/off slide backwards to switch off the appliance (Fig. 8).



The appliance comes with the following accessories:

1 a brush tool to clean delicate surfaces;

2 a crevice tool to clean corners or narrow gaps;

3 a bendable crevice tool, contractible and extendable to clean hard-to-

reach places (FC6053 only).

1 Take the accessory you want to use.

2 Attach the accessory to the nozzle of the appliance (Fig. 9).



Always remove the adapter from the wall socket before you clean the

charger.

1 Clean the appliance with a damp cloth.



Make sure you empty the dust compartment and clean the lters

regularly.

1 Hold the appliance over a dustbin and press the dust compartment

release button (Fig. 10).

2 Remove the lter unit from the dust compartment (Fig. 11).

3 Empty the dust compartment with your free hand.

4 Clean the outer lter and the inner lter.

Note: To clean the inner lter, remove the outer lter from the lter holder by

turning it anticlockwise.

Note: Clean the outer lter and the inner lter with a brush or with a normal

vacuum cleaner if they are very dirty.

Note: If necessary, clean the outer lter and the inner lter in cold or

lukewarm water.

5 Place the outer lter back onto the lter holder and put the lter

holder back into the dust compartment. Make sure you insert the

lter holder in the correct way (Fig. 12).

If you have cleaned the lter unit with water, make sure the lter unit is

completely dry before you reinsert it into the vacuum cleaner.



1 To store the brush tool and the crevice tool, place them on the

charger (Fig. 13).

Replace the inner lter if you can no longer clean it properly (usually after

you have cleaned it about 50 times).

1 Remove the lter unit from the dust compartment (Fig. 11).

2 Turn the outer lter anticlockwise (1) and remove it from the

holder (2) (Fig. 14).

3 Gently turn the inner lter anticlockwise (1) and remove it from

the holder (2) (Fig. 15).

4 Place a new inner lter on the holder (1) and turn the lter

clockwise to attach it to the holder (2) (Fig. 16).

5 Push the tip of the inner lter inwards (Fig. 17).

6 Place the outer lter on the holder (1) and turn it clockwise to

attach it to the holder (2) (Fig. 18).



New inner lters are available under type no. FC8035. Contact your

Philips dealer.



- Do not throw away the appliance with the normal household waste

at the end of its life, but hand it in at an ofcial collection point for

recycling. By doing this, you help to preserve the

environment (Fig. 19).

- The built-in rechargeable batteries contain substances that may

pollute the environment. Remove the batteries when you discard the

appliance. Do not throw away the batteries with the normal

household waste, but hand them in at an ofcial collection point. You

can also take the appliance to a Philips service centre. The staff of this

centre will remove the batteries for you and will dispose of them in

an environmentally safe way (Fig. 20).
