Filters

It is important to clean the dust compartment filter every time you empty the dust

container, otherwise the performance of the cleaner will be impaired.

See page 5 - Cleaning the filter. A spare filter is provided.

Blockages

Check the hose, tubes and tools for blockages. Please note: Crevice tool / brush and

upholstery nozzle are stored underneath the dust compartment lid - see page 3.

Turbo nozzle

The turbo nozzle is particulary useful for the removal of hairs from carpets and

upholstery.

Safety cut-out

If the cleaner overheats, a motor protection device will automatically switch the motor

off. If this happens, switch the cleaner off, unplug from the power supply and leave

the cleaner to cool for 60 minutes. Check the airways for blockages, empty the dust

container, clean the dust container filter and replace the exhaust filter if necessary

before restarting the cleaner.

cleaning or maintaining the

• Never use in the presence

of explosive liquids or

vapours.

• Never pick up inflammable

or poisonous liquids such

as petrol, copier toner or

other volatile substances.

Never pick up acids,

asbestos or asbestos dust.

• Repairs to electrical

appliances are only to be

undertaken by trained

personnel. Unprofessional

repairs can be dangerous

for users.

Richards spare parts and

accessories.

• The appliance must never

be left running when

unsupervised.

• This vacuum cleaner is

intended for domestic use

only. Misuse or use for

commercial or any other

purpose will render the

guarantee invalid.

given supervision or

Product safety

• Never use the appliance

without the bag or filters

being installed.

• Never use the appliance to

vacuum hot ashes, broken

glass, sharp objects or

liquids.

Children

• Children do not understand

the dangers associated

with operating electrical

appliances. Never allow

children to use this

appliance.

• Children should be

supervised to ensure that

they do not play with the

appliance or stumble over

the power cord.

ELECTRICAL

REQUIREMENTS

Check that the voltage on

the rating plate of your

appliance corresponds with

your house electricity

supply which must be A.C.

(Alternating Current).

If the socket outlets in your

home are not suitable for

the plug supplied with this

appliance the plug should

be removed and the

appropriate one fitted.

If you cut off the plug and

let go of the cable it will

rewind into the machine

therefore you must pull out

a length of cable and

secure it before cutting the

plug off and re-fitting a new

one.

WARNING: The plug

removed from the mains

lead, if severed, must be

destroyed, as a plug with

a bared flexible cord is

hazardous if engaged

into a live socket outlet.

Should the fuse in the 13

amp plug require changing,

a 13 amp BS1362 fuse

must be fitted.

OPERATING THE

APPLIANCE

Quick start

1Assemble the nozzle, telescopic

tube and hose as shown on

page 3.

2Pull out the mains cable to it’s

full length and plug into the

mains supply.

3Switch on by pressing the foot

pedal ›.

Accessories

1Fit the hose to the cleaner by

inserting the hose end into the

hose inlet ⁄. When removing,

squeeze the clip and pull.

2Attach the telescopic tube to

the handle end of the hose.

Extend to the required length by

pressing down the slider release

and pulling out the tube A.

The hose handle features an

airflow regulator Âwhich

allows suction to be reduced as

required.

3Attach the wheeled floor nozzle

Îto the tube.

The crevice tool Èis ideal for

use in awkward places, behind

radiators etc, and the upholstery

tool Ífor curtains and

upholstery B.

Both these tools are stored

beneath the lid.

CONTROLS

Power

The on/off control is operated

by the foot pedal ›.

Variable power

A dial ﬁvaries the suction

power as required. For example,

maximum suction can be used

for cleaning carpets, hard floors

etc. and reduced suction for

cleaning upholstery and

curtains.

Suction can also be controlled

using the airflow regulator Âon

the handle. Closed for maximum

suction, open for reduced

suction.

Automatic cable

rewind

After use, unplug and press the

cable rewind pedal ¤to retract

the cable.

WARNING: When using the

cable rewind, always hold the

plug as the cable will rewind

quickly.

Using the turbo

nozzle

Attach the turbo nozzle Ïto

either the hose handle to clean

stairs or upholstery or the

telescopic tube for floor

cleaning.

Do not pick-up large debris with

the turbo nozzle as this may

block the fan inside the turbo

nozzle.

Cleaning the turbo

nozzle

To maintain optimum

performance, regulary remove

any hairs or fibres that may have

become wrapped around the

brush. Snip the hairs/fibres with

scissors before pulling away. If

debris get into the fan, the flap

on the bottom of the nozzle may

be opened to remove. Make

sure the flap is securely closed

before re-use.

Dust disposal

To obtain the best results from

your cleaner, empty the dust

container regularly, otherwise

the airflow and cleaning power

will be reduced.

1Open the lid by pressing the

release buttons ﬂeither side

2Lift the container away from the

product D.

3Holding the dust container over

a dustbin, lift up the flap on top

of the handle and press the dust

container release button as

shown E. The bottom of the

dust container will drop down to

release the dirt.

4Close the bottom of the dust

container by pressing the base

upwards until it clicks into place.

5Re-insert the dust container into

the product and close the lid to

re-fit F.

Cleaning the dust

compartment filter

It is essential that filters are

cleaned regularly to maintain

performance.

1Remove the dust container from

the product as detailed in the

previous section.

2Lift the filter ‡out of the

container G.

3Remove the top foam filter as

shown H. Gently shake the

foam clean. The pleated filter

can be gently knocked against

the side of the dustbin to

remove excess dust.

To refit the filter, reassemble and

locate into the hole in the top of

the dust container.

• The filter should be regularly

washed in cold water and left to

air dry before inserting back into

the machine.

IMPORTANT: Do not use

detergents to clean the filter. The

filter must be thoroughly dry

before the machine is used.

A spare filter is provided.

IMPORTANT: The dust container

will not lock back onto the

machine unless the filter is fitted

correctly.

Pre-motor filter

An additional pre-motor filter is

located underneath the dust

compartment lid. Lift up the lid,

the filter is located to the rear I.

This should only require

occasional cleaning. Remove

and shake rigorously to clean.

Cleaning the exhaust

filter

The exhaust filter ‰is located

at the back of the product. To

remove, press the clip and pull

the filter cover away from the

product J. Remove the filter.

The exhaust filter is

non-washable. Clean by shaking

over a dustbin. To remove fine

dust use the crevice tool brush

to gently clean between the

pleats.

It is recommended that the

exhaust filter is replaced every 6

months or sooner if it becomes

damaged.

IMPORTANT:

• All filters should be checked

regularly for signs of damage,

preferably after each cleaning

task. The filters must be

replaced immediately if they

become damaged.

• Always disconnect the cleaner

from the mains when checking

filters.

• Always make sure all filters are

fitted before use. Failure to do

so may result in damage to your

product.

Storage position

When finished, you can store

the tubes and accessories by

locating the tube storage clip

into the slot on the bottom of

the cleaner as shown K.

Care and

maintenance

Your cleaner is manufactured to

withstand normal day-to-day

use, but an occasional wipe

over with a damp cloth will help

maintain its good looks.

Abrasive cleaners should not be

used.

Purchasing filters

Use original Morphy Richards

spares & consumables. These

can be purchased by

telephoning the Morphy

Richards replacement parts line.

It is important to retain the

retailer’s receipt as proof of

purchase. Staple your receipt

to this back cover for future

reference.

Please quote the following

information if the product

develops a fault. These

numbers can be found on the

base of the product.

Model no.

Serial no.

All Morphy Richards products

are individually tested before

leaving the factory. In the

unlikely event of any appliance

proving to be faulty within 28

days of purchase, it should be

returned to the place of

purchase for it to be replaced.

If the fault develops after 28

days and within 24 months of

original purchase, you should

contact the Helpline number

quoting Model number and

Serial number on the product,

or write to Morphy Richards at

the address shown.

You may be asked to return a

copy of proof of purchase.

Subject to the exclusions set

out below (see Exclusions), the

faulty appliance will then be

repaired or replaced and

dispatched usually within 7

working days of receipt.

• Check the filters for blockages.

• Check the tools / tubes for

blockages.

• Check the plug is firmly in the

socket.

• Check the socket is working by

trying another appliance.

• Check the fuse in the plug.

If, for any reason, this item is

replaced during the 2 year

guarantee period, the

guarantee on the new item will

be calculated from original

purchase date. Therefore it is

vital to retain your original till

receipt or invoice to indicate

the date of initial purchase.

To qualify for the 2 year

guarantee, the appliance must

have been used according to

the instructions supplied.

EXCLUSIONS

Morphy Richards shall not be

liable to replace or repair the

goods under the terms of the

guarantee where:

1The fault has been caused or is

attributable to accidental use,

misuse, negligent use or used

contrary to the manufacturer’s

recommendations or where the

fault has been caused by

power surges or damage

caused in transit.

2The appliance has been used

on a voltage supply other than

that stamped on the products.

3Repairs have been attempted

by persons other than our

service staff (or authorised

dealer).

4The appliance has been used

for hire purposes or non

domestic use.

5The appliance is second

hand.

6Morphy Richards are not

liable to carry out any type of

servicing work, under the

guarantee.

7The guarantee excludes

consumables such as bags

and filters.

• This guarantee does not confer

any rights other than those

expressly set out above and

does not cover any claims for

consequential loss or damage.

This guarantee is offered as an

additional benefit and does not

affect your statutory rights as a

consumer.

• This guarantee is valid in the
